Australian digital entertainment company M5859 Studios, who had previously collaborated with BBC Worldwide & Apple Inc on the No. 1 Walking with Dinosaurs app series and ITV’s Hell’s Kitchen mobile game series, is developing Matthew Snowden’s Home Coming – Australia’s first fully AI native film.

Home Coming is set in a near-futuristic Melbourne, Australia, in 2050, when AI and AGI have displaced most jobs, leaving the youth bored and restless. Bored youth gangs rise to compete on social media with luxury car hijackings, as the government secretly writes a new AI program to curb their minds. Inspired by true events.

Written and developed by Matthew Snowden, Home Coming is an original sci-fi AI native film project, which also involves the creation of a 4,500-page mythology universe built around the story and original characters — a glimpse into the future of 3D car factories, computer chips and how AI may affect a society where AI creates abundant wealth, but bored leisure time.

The ambitious new science-fiction AI native feature film is being developed using some of the world’s most advanced frontier generative AI models, neural rendering technologies and next-generation virtual production pipelines, designed to deliver a visually spectacular, Hollywood-calibre cinematic experience.

Our production workflow integrates leading AI filmmaking platforms including Runway, ByteDance’s Seedance, Kling AI, and advanced generative video systems to produce photorealistic environments, complex action sequences, digital characters and sophisticated visual effects traditionally requiring multimillion-dollar VFX budgets.

By combining text-to-video and image-to-video diffusion architectures, AI-driven cinematography, temporal consistency modelling, neural compositing, automated rotoscoping, digital performance synthesis and intelligent post-production editing, we aim to achieve unprecedented creative flexibility and production efficiency. We are also exploring emerging AI-assisted filmmaking technologies such as InterPositive, the filmmaking technology company founded by Ben Affleck, alongside professional AI-enhanced editing, colour grading, sound design and visual effects workflows.

The result is a radically different approach to feature-film production: combining the creative ambition, cinematic scale and visual sophistication of a major Hollywood science-fiction blockbuster with the speed, agility and cost efficiencies of a new generation of AI-native filmmaking.
